Braided Hairstyle

Day 19... Braided Hairstyle. Saw this look while watching the BET pre-show on Nia Long who seems to never age. I want to imitate this look soon as a protective style for the winter months when they come.

Much Love,

Updo

Day 7... found this photo via instagram, and I would love to do this look one day. Not only is it an updo its also a protective style as well since the ends are tucked in. Definitely a year round hairstyle.

Protective Styling

For the entire month of February and March I hid my hair under weaves. I was at that point where I just did not want to do my hair at all, and I didnt know the style I wanted to do daily. And I was quite bored with my hair in general (shrugs shoulders) it happens. So I posted some pics below of the styles I've been rocking since February

Updo Protective Style

Lilith Moon on youtube is know for creating and breaking down some very pretty hairstyles. Although the videos are not geared towards natural hair community it could definitely still be used, especially for those who are doing protective hairstyles for the winter season. In this video she parted tucked and rolled the three sections in the back of her head after she had teased her crown. She also left out a few face framing pieces. For myself I did not tease my hair nor part the backe in three sections to tuck away. I only did two sections and pinned the ends, and for the face framing pieces I used curlformers as opposed to heat to make the curls that I was looking for.

Random Protective Style

This morning I was definitely about to break my protective style challenge and wear my hair out and free. But I stuck to my guns and pinned my ends up. I didnt see any tutorials on this style I just literally started pinning my ends up so that they weren't out and loose.

How I achieved this look

1. Place a headband to push your hair back.
2. Tuck and roll the back up and pin it so it doesn't come a loose.
3. Take right side ends and pin them back
4. Take left side ends and pin loose ends back.

Protective Style Option

Going through YouTube vids once again I found another protective style that could be done. I'm a little iffy about it but you never know how things are going to turn out till you try it. Sooooo I will give it a shot and see how it goes and take a pic of it lol.

Enjoy!!!

Day 9

Twisted crown is what I call it, pretty simple two strand flat twist with a deep part, and the ends pinned up.

Enjoy!!!

I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!

Basically I am super fed up with this gap that I have between the middle of my hair and the back of my hair. The back is so much longer than the rest of my hair, ironically when my hair is flat ironed it falls perfectly because my hair is layered. The battle though that I'm having is that if I trim my hair I would mess up EVERY challenge that I am in ( afroniquely, kinky curly coily me, and my own bsl). My hair is not flowing properly and it annoys the hell out of me, can't wear twistouts, braidouts or even wash and goes without my hair looking choppy and uneven, and all I want is for it to flow properly (the struggle).

So my options are minimal, I can trim it which really wouldn't affect any of the challenges but that means I have to flat iron it. I could just wait till December when all of the challenges are over and then trim or cut it. Or I could just cut it to where it flows. As of right now I don't have a clue on what to do, since I've been wearing protective styles it doesn't really matter to be totally honest but when I go out and just want a head full of curls I can't wear it ( -_- ).

Sigh...

Protective Styles... Day 5

And the protective styles continue... This one was super simple I did a high ponytail, twisted it and bobby pinned it in the back. Took no more than two minutes would've added a scarf or headband but I didn't have a decent looking to wear outside lol.

Enjoy!!!
