Protective Hair Style: Goddess Braid

Hands down one of my favorite hairstyles especially for the summer, and now for the fall I can pair it with a hat. For the following week I will be wearing this style!!!

BSL Challenge

While flipping through my twitter (@BriRose26) my fave YouTuber IvyCharlaine posted this picture...

So I started with her, I already was doing protective styles but on the weekends I let my hair flow. So I am going to do this challenge and post the pics of the hairstyles that I will be doing. I started the week off with a low poof with my ends tucked in.

Wore that style for two days and did a bun Thursday and Friday. Currently I am on the hunt for some cute protective styles once I find some I will post them along with my attempt to do them.

Found Some Styles

So I have a three day weekend that is starting today (whoop whoop) and I will be experimenting with protective styles that I have found via, instagram, YouTube, or blogs. Pictured below are the styles, feel free to do the same and attach pictures below as well.

Protective Style Challenge

I took It upon myself to do protective styles for the entire month of January.  And I have being doing so as of New Years Eve, rocked a high big bun. So my gameplan was rather simple I would rock the same hairstyle for a week, and for the following week I would wear a different protective hairstyle. The problem however is that protective hairstyles can be super... duper... boring. I'm so bored that its not even funny like I almost wanna cry of the boredom that I am enduring with this challenge that I created. I've scoured YouTube on a daily basis hoping that someone would post a good video of protective hairstyles for my length, and I found a few but I need to try them before I go out in public. When I find some more I will post them in the meantime I will  be rocking buns, braids, and puffs.

Much Love,
Bri

Heat Damage Round 2... Fight!

I received an email asking if there is anyway to deal with heat damaged pieces, being a victim myself I had no clue. So I told her that I would research the options that we have.

* hot oil treatments
* deep condition regularly
* use products w/ Humectants (holds and attracts moisture)
* make sure the conditioners are high in moisture retaining abilities
* eat more protein (fruits, vegetables, chicken, fish and nuts)
* protect ends from outside elements and clothing ( updo)
* use a leave in conditioner

However a lot of the articles I read on heat damamge made it very clear that it truly depends on how severe the hair damage is. If you have severely heat damaged hair it is not reversable and you will essentially have to cut the heat damaged pieces off in order to achieve the curls you want. If you do not want to cut your hair (like me) then wear updos or protective styles that is not to strenuous on your hair until you achieve the length you want.

Protective Styles...Day 2

Technically... I'm on day three but no biggie who is really keeping track lol. I attempted to not a protective Style this day and thought to myself don't break on what you said you was going to do. Mind you this was after I took my French braids down and was about to head out the door (sad). Anywho, with this style I left some pieces of hair out in the front and bunned the back of my hair by like the nape of my neck. I bobby pinned the extra hair in the front after I swooped it ( would be a whole lot easier to visualize if I posted YouTube vids... I'm thinking about it). Pics are down below.

Enjoy!!!
