The Proper Way to Deep Condition

The are plenty benefits of deep conditioning your hair, however if it is done incorrectly you could be causing more harm than good to your hair. Here are a few tips when deep conditioning your hair.

1. Oils
    - use oils that penetrate your hair (coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil).

2. Alcohol Free Conditioners
    - alcohol strips your hair of its needed nutrients, refrain from it.

3. Section your hair
-pretty simple,  section your hair so that detangling is easier as well as making  sure that the conditioner is evenly distributed.

4. Heat
-heat opens up the hair shaft therefore allowing the conditioner to enter. A hooded dryer can achieve this or a steamer.

5. Rinse with Cold Water
    - cool water closes the hair shaft which then locks the conditioner in.
Down below is a YouTube video of Ivy Charlaine showing you how to deep condition your hair. Follow her on instagram and YouTube: IvyCharlaine and on Twitter: @ivycharlaine

Full Eyebrow Tips

Since we are heading back into fall full eyebrows are back in full effect. Personally I love full eyebrows anytime of the year it is very flattering in my opinion. But for those who do not have full eyebrows here is how you can get them.
1. Brush your eyebrows to see where you need to possibly fill in

2. You can either use a brow powder or a brow pencil to fill in the sparse areas.
     - It is preferred to use the powder because it is not as harsh and you can gradually fill in.

-If you use a pencil make sure you use a pencil color that is a smidge lighter than your eyebrow color that way it doesn't appear as harsh.

3. Blend, the key to flawless eyebrows is to blend.

The Struggle Continues!!!

The struggle between two textures continues. I thought by using a shea moisture as a styler I would be able to blend the two textures, but clearly in the pics below that is not the case. So as I asked before can someone please tell me how to blend the two textures so that my hair is uniformed and not confused.

Right Way to Comb your Hair???

While reading through many natural hair blogs I have noticed that are mixed reviews on when it appropriate to comb natural hair. Some blogs say comb while your hair is wet because your hair is more flexible and able to stand the harshness of a comb. Other blogs say comb while your hair is dry because your hair is the strongest when dry. And then some blogs say to avoid combs at all cost and just finger comb. So which one is it?

1. Use a conditioner, conditioners give your hair the slip that it needs so combing or finger combing is easier.

2. If you can finger comb, finger comb ensures gentleness and less breakage.

3. If you must comb use a wide tooth comb, from reading many post use Denman comb apparently its smoother and causes less breakage.

Essentially it is up to, knowing when to comb is learned through trial and error because what may work for others may not work for you.
